Assessment
The training at AST is nationally recognised and accredited as part of HLT Health Training Package and WRB Beauty Training Packages. All assessment for performance criteria is competency based and assessed via a selection of methods to meet the most stringent industry standards. These methods include oral and theory assessment, assignments and homework tasksIf you are not successful in your assessment or subject you have the opportunity to re-sit your assessment or to appeal the result.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Individual applications for RPL can be made on the basis of your current skills and knowledge acquired through previous education, training, work, or life experience. Once you have made application and had your skills and knowledge assessed against national standards, you may be eligible to receive full recognition or partial recognition. Enrolment
To enrol in our courses you must have a standard of spoken and written English equivalent to Australian high school year 10 level. To know more, please contact AST. As classes at AST are small, we offer limited places in our courses. To ensure your place with AST, you will need to submit your application papers with a $500.00 non-refundable application fee. Enrollments and payment arrangements must be finalised two weeks prior to the commencement of your first semester of study.
Employability Skills
Employability Skills are embedded in the training and assessment of national training package qualifications. What are my payment options at AST?
AST offers a range of payment options to meet your needs. If you are paying the full cost of fees two weeks in advance of the commencement of your course you may be eligible for a substantial discount. You may also opt to pay your fees at the commencement of each term or semester to be eligible for a discount. AST also offers interest free student loans to eligible students for the term of their studies. Alternatively, if you need to longer to pay of your fees NAB has Student Loans. How do I enrol in a course?
On campus: To secure your place in the course of your choice, simply return your Application Form, Pre-admission declaration and application fee. Just make a time with the academy staff to complete your enrollment. Call 07 5568 7233.
Correspondence: To enrol in one of our correspondence courses, simply return your Application and Enrolment Form, Pre-admission declaration and fees to AST. Your subject matter and an enrolment pack will be sent to you either via Fastway Courier or Australia Post if out of service area or to a PO Box. You will be required to sign for your material.

Will I be eligible for Centrelink benefits whilst studying at AST?
Most of AST qualifications are Centrelink approved for benefits as long as you are a full time student and able to satisfy Centrelink requirements. You will need to contact Centrelink to find out more on the benefits you may be eligible for. There are also government subsidies on offer for training. Centrelink and job network agencies will be able to provide more information on these to eligible students.
What is Nationally Recognised Training?
AST together with its courses are nationally accredited through the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
This has many benefits to students including:
  • Nationally Recognised Training provides a standard against which courses and RTO’s can be assessed
  • It assures the student that the course is of an appropriate standard
  • It assures the student that the educational techniques and principles of the school are sound.
  • It promotes the recognition of courses between institutions and in the case of private education providers, ensures that they meet
         government guidelines for courses.
  • It ensures for Natural Therapists that they are studying a course which is recognised and is likely to carry some weight with both government
         and professional bodies which presently register and regulate practitioners As accreditation is an ongoing activity it assures the student
         that the high standards of the accredited college will be maintained.
    What if I decide I don’t want to finish a full qualification?
    If, for example, you enroll in a Diploma of Beauty Therapy and decide you do not wish to finish, you have 3 options.
    #1. You may defer your studies and complete your qualification at a later date.
    #2. Once you have reached Certificate level you may be issued with the relevant certification
    #3. You will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the units of competence you have successfully completed.
